UPDATE: Search For Fugitive Led To North Penn Elementary Lockout

A North Penn elementary school was locked down on Wednesday as authorities searched for a fugitive in the area.

HATFIELD, PA -- Kulp Elementary School was briefly locked down on Wednesday as Hatfield police searched for a wanted man in the area.

Beginning at around 3:30 p.m., police conducted a search of the Bethlehem Pike, Line Lexington Road, and Valley Woods Road area, in the vicinity of Kulp. With the help of several other local municipalities, police established a perimeter and deployed K9 units.

The Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit also assisted in the search.

The man was eventually found near the intersection of Valley Woods and Line Lexington, police said.

According to North Penn, Kulp students were not in danger and were safe throughout the duration of the lockout. The lockout went into effect at 3:30 p.m., and was lifted by around 4:30 p.m.

"There is no one else still being sought and no further concerns in this area," police added.

Hatfield was assisted on the scene by the Pennsylvania State Police Aviation Unit Trooper 1, Montgomery Twp. Police Dept. K-9 Units, Horsham Twp. Police Dept. K-9 Unit, Lansdale Borough Police Dept., Hilltown Twp. Police Dept., and the New Britain Twp. Police Dept.

Kulp is located on 801 Cowpath Road in Hatfield.
