Man Raped 95-Year-Old Woman In Towamencin Nursing Home: Police

The 22-year-old told her that he had seen her in the cafeteria earlier and that she was beautiful, according to reports.

TOWAMENCIN, PA — A man snuck into a Montgomery County senior living community and raped a 95-year-old woman and resident of the facility, according to police.

The incident took place on May 14, 2025 at Dock Woods Senior Living, located half a mile off Forty Foot Road in Towamencin.

The elderly victim woke up to a man pacing around in her room in the middle of the night, authorities said.

John Vernon Gray, 22, of Telford, told the woman he had seen her in the cafeteria earlier and that he thought she was beautiful, police said. He then commenced to rape her, according to authorities.

Gray then begged the woman not to tell anyone, and left after about an hour, officials said.

Further investigation by police linked Gray to several other break-ins and attempted break-ins at the homes of elderly women, police said, continuing through November.

He was charged with rape - forcible compulsion, sexual assault, indecent assault, criminal trespassing, and numerous related counts.

Gray was denied bail due to the "safety of the community," Judge Todd Stephens ruled, according to court documents. He was later booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility.

Preliminary hearings are set for Jan. 21 and Feb. 2.
