Man Throws Trash Can At Car, Kicks Cop In Hatfield: Cops

Police said he caused more than $5,000 in damage to the car when he struck it with the trash can.

HATFIELD, PA — A man threw a trash can at a vehicle and kicked a police officer repeatedly during a confrontation recently in Hatfield, police announced Wednesday.

The incident occurred back on Sept. 17 at around 1:30 p.m. on the 1300 block of Needham Circle.

Hiren Patel, 35, became involved in an altercation with a woman for reasons which police did not disclose.

During the incident, he threw a trash can at a car, causing more than $5,000 in damage to the vehicle, police said.

When a Hatfield police officer responded to the scene, Patel kicked her in the upper leg, and then attempted to kick her a second time before being arrested, according to authoriites.

Patel was arraigned on Oct. 8 and bail was set at $10,000. A preliminary hearing was held on Thursday morning.

He faces charges of aggravated assault and criminal mischief.
