Man Who Attacked Towamencin Cop in Racially-Charged Incident Sentenced
A man who attacked and hurled racial slurs at a Towamencin police officer last February was sentenced after pleading guilty in November.

A Towamencin man who assaulted a police officer who was checking on the safety of the man’s son has been sentenced to five years of probation, according to court documents.
Calvin Richard Medlin, 47, of Pross Road, was arrested February 18 when police went to Medlin’s home to investigate after receiving a call from the boy’s mother that he was in danger, according to The Reporter.
Medlin was threatening and hostile from the get-go, telling the officer that if he “took another step, he would know he made the wrong move,” according to the report. He also hurled racial slurs at the officer, who was black.

The situation briefly de-escalated when a different officer arrived, but Medlin continued to harass the black officer and became enraged when the boy’s mother arrived on the scene, The Reporter said.
He then came outside “in an aggressive manner,” was ordered back inside, went inside, but then slammed the screen door out against the first officer’s face, the report states. He was then subdued after trying to resist arrest, and smelled of “alcoholic beverages."

The boy was found to be healthy and unharmed.
