MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — Habitat for Humanity will open a massive, 44,000 square-foot Habitat Restore facility in Montgomery Township this weekend.

The new store on 1200 Welsh Road will officially open with a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14.

Officials say it marks a "major expansion" of the nonprofit's efforts to support affordable housing around the Montgomery County region.

“What makes the ReStore model so powerful is that it’s entirely community supported," Keith Sterling, CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery and Delaware Counties, said in a statement. "Donations from local residents and businesses are purchased by members of the same community, and those proceeds help create jobs, repair homes, and expand affordable homeownership opportunities. It truly is neighbors helping neighbors."

The store will sell donated furniture, home goods, clothes, appliances, building materials, and more to the general public. Proceeds of the sales directly support Habitat for Humanity.

Organizers hope the store also becomes a "regional hub" for reuse and donation, giving second homes to various equipment and offering a sustainable and affordable model of community.

With the new larger store, Habitat will be able to generate more funding and accept and process more donations, they said.

The Saturday grand opening will feature speeches from local elected officials, tours of the store, a live DJ, and light refreshments.
