Today I am grateful for Medicare. Guess what I got in the mail yesterday? Yup, I am now officially old! The government says so.
Actually I have a couple of months to go before I’m a hundred percent official. That’ll happen in June. Then I can ride public transportation for a buck. Then I can get the cheapest rate at the community pool this summer. Then I can get cheaper supplementary insurance and stop paying exorbitant COBRA premiums. Life is good.

I know a lot of people feel awful and old and washed up when they get their Medicare cards. Not me. I’m glad I made it. Well, almost made it. I’m holding a good thought until June. I have had so many friends die at early ages. They would have loved to live long enough to get their Medicare card. . .which is why I am so grateful for mine!
