Montco Community College Students Can Now Live At Gwynedd Mercy University

Officials believe the agreement is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania.

BLUE BELL, PA -- Montgomery County College will provide student housing at Gwynedd Mercy University, beginning in the 2017-2018 school year.

“I think this a winning partnership for both MCCC and Gwynedd Mercy University, and a great example of how local institutions can work together to address students' needs," Philip Needles, vice president for student services at MCCC, said in a statement.

MCCC students can now choose to live at Gwynedd Mercy for the same rates as at MCCC. Gwynedds' campus is just four miles away, on Sumneytown Pike in Gwynedd Valley.

School officials said that off-campus housing has proved cost-prohibitive for many, especially the school's 178 international students.

Danielle Gross, director of public affairs for the Pennsylvania Commission for Community College, said she believes the agreement is the only one of its kind in Pennsylvania.
