A preliminary hearing in Kennedy's case had been set for Dec. 21.
Kennedy allegedly had the explicit images on a phone that he gave to a nurse in his office to use for work, the DA said. The nurse was given the phone to handle after-hours calls for the pediatrician's office over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to authorities. When she discovered the sexually graphic photos and alerted authorities, the ensuing investigation revealed Kennedy as the culprit, authorities alleged.
