Montco Seeking Hunters for Annual Controlled Goose Hunt
According to the county commissioners' office, the annual hunt helps control the goose population at Green Lane Park.

Licensed hunters interested in participating in Montgomery County’s annual controlled goose hunt at Green Lane Park have until Aug. 27 to submit their applications to be eligible for the lottery that selects the hunters.
For the past 17 years, the goose hunt has been a significant factor in controlling the goose population at Green Lane Park, county officials said.
The hunt is conducted on six separate dates over two weeks. The dates are:

Applications can also be picked up in person at the Deep Creek office of Green Lane Park on Snyder Road and at the Walt Road Day Use Area at the boat launch.
Completed applications should be mailed to Green Lane Park, 2144 Snyder Road, Green Lane, PA 18054. They must be postmarked by Aug. 27. You can also fax to 215-234-4027; e-mailed totciotti@montcopa.org; or dropped off in person at either of the park offices.
The public lottery to choose the hunters will be conducted at the Green Lane Park’s Deep Creek office at 9 a.m. on August 29. Attendance is not necessary, and all applicants will be notified of the outcome. Successful applicants will be allowed to bring one guest to the hunt. Unsuccessful applicants are welcome to come the days of the hunts and standby in case a spot in a blind opens up.
