Montgomery Township Renames Arbor Day Tree Giveaway For Longtime Volunteer

Montgomery Township's annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway is now known as the Roy Rodriguez Tree Giveaway. Rodriguez is a longtime volunteer.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA — An annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway in this Montgomery County community has been renamed after a longtime community volunteer who has served on the local Shade Tree Commission for the past 26 years, according to local media reports.

Montgomery Township elected officials earlier this week gave their approval to renaming the yearly Arbor Day Tree Giveaway as the Roy Rodriguez Tree Giveaway, honoring the longtime township resident and local activist who recently stepped down as chair of the local Shade Tree Commission due to a personal illness, according to a report by the website NorthPennNow.

The story says that Rodriguez was also integral in the planning and development of Memorial Grove and worked to establish the Korean War Memorial at America-Korea Alliance Peace Park.
