Montgomeryville's Water Tower Cinema To Reopen Friday

MONTGOMERYVILLE, PA — The first movie theatre to reopen in Montgomery County will be Montgomeryville's Water Tower Cinema.

The theatre announced Wednesday that it would reopen on Friday, July 3. Movie theatres are allowed to reopen in the the state's green phase of coronavirus mitigation, the least restrictive phase. Montgomery County moved to the green phase on June 26.

As part of their reopening special, Water Tower is offering $4 tickets on opening weekend, as well as a slate of classic movies, including Jaws, Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Bad Boys For Life, Ghostbusters, and more.

Numerous safety restrictions will be in place. Masks are required to enter the building for all guests except children under the age of two, and disposable masks are available for purchase for a dollar.

Owners are confident they can reopen safely.

“Our guests’ sense of safety, comfort and confidence about returning to the movies is our highest priority,” Steve Palmer, the chief cinancial officer for the Goldenberg Group, which owns the theatre. "Just as our community expected best-in-class service before we closed, our commitment to the safety and comfort of our staff and patrons is evident throughout every inch of our theater which is one of the largest, most spacious in this area.”

Numerous changes have been made, including the installation of plexiglass in the lobby and concession areas, kiosks for touchless credit card transactions, hand sanitizer stations, and directional markings on the floor to help encourage social distancing.
