New Chess Club Launched At Lansdale Public Library

A new chess club at the Lansdale Public Library is launching soon.

The Shining Knights Chess Company has branches throughout the Philadelphia region and promotes the benefits of chess for a developing mind.

They cite the benefits of chess, including:

• Raising IQ Scores
• Generating Creativity & Original Thinking
• Establishing Problem Solving Skills
• Increasing Ability in Memorization

Their website stresses that chess is for players of all levels, and that children as young as four have learned the rules and can enjoy the game and benefit from it.

“We have many beginners sign up for chess each session,” their website states. “We always start out by teaching the rules on the first day before progressing to more advanced lessons. Of course, the more a child practices outside of chess club, the more quickly the child will master the rules.”
