North Penn Appoints New Director Of Special Education

North Penn has named appointees to two positions: Director of Special Education, and Director of Curriculum and Equity.

LANSDALE, PA — The North Penn School District has named appointees to two positions: Director of Special Education, and Director of Curriculum and Equity.

Ruth Desiderio, a North Penn employee since 1998 and most recently the interim Director of Special Education, will take over the role full time.

A graduate of Gettysburg College and LaSalle University, Desiderio has taught courses at LaSalle and has years of experience as a learning support and instructional support teacher at Inglewood Elementary.

In addition, D'Ana Waters has been named the Director of Curriculum and Equity.

In that role, the 24-year veteran of the school district will develop, implement, and evaluate the district's curricular programs, while "promoting a culture of diversity and inclusion through leadership of the district’s cultural proficiency and equity initiatives," the district said.

Formerly the principal of Hatfield Elementary, Waters has degrees from West Chester University, Beaver College, the University of Pennsylvania, and Immaculata University, where she received her doctorate in educational leadership.
