3 Lower Merion Area Basketball Stars Nominated As McDonald's All-Americans

A trio of girls from the Lower Merion area have been nominated as McDonald's All-Americans.

LOWER MERION, PA -- A trio of girls from the Lower Merion area have been nominated as McDonald's All-Americans, the most prestigious honor for a high school basketball player in the nation.

Alana Davis, of Friends Central in Wynnewood, Jada Smith, of Merion Mercy in Lower Merion, and Ybdia Bobo, of Shipley High School in Bryn Mawr have all been nomiated.

A total of 21 girls from Pennsylvania were nominated to the team. Becoming nominated is just the first step. The final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls will be selected on January 15.

Five of those 21 girls are from Montgomery County schools. Athletes from North Penn and Abington were also recognized.

Nominees were selected high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.

Those athletes will compete during the 40th annual games on Wednesday, March 29 at Chicago's United Center. The game will be broadcast on ESPN.
