Sobriety checkpoints and roving DUI patrols will cover the Towamencin, Hatfield, and North Penn areas over the next several days.
It's part of a crackdown by the North Penn DUI Enforcement Team, Hatfield Police Chief William J. Tierney said in a press release Thursday.
Patrols will be in effect through September 24.

Police said the goal of project is to identify and remove impaired drivers from the roadway. Specifically, police pointed to state roads 63, 463, 113, and 309.
The checkpoints and patrols will frequent areas that have been identified as places where unsafe driving and alcohol-caused crashes have occurred.

In addition to driving under the influence, enforcement will also include child restraint systems, unlicensed or suspended operator licenses, proof of insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle equipment and other traffic violations, police said.
