The new leader was selected after three rounds of interviews and a months-long search.

North Penn High School has found its next leader, announcing Friday the hiring of a new principal.

Todd M. Bauer was selected after three rounds of interviews and a months-long search.

“The interview process really helped me get a sense of the professionalism and positive environment that is NPSD,” Bauer said.

A “wide range of participants” were interviewed for the position throughout an extended interview process, including a final round which was a 35 minute presentation of their vision for the future of the school district. The audience was comprised of over 70 parents, teachers, administrators, board members and students.

“I want to bring a student-centered mentality to the high school that’s focused on student achievement, helping to develop kids for life beyond high school,” Bauer said.

Bauer, a Harleysville native and Souderton High School graduate, earned a B.A. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Education from Bucknell University. He taught at Upper Moreland High School, Indian Valley Middle School, and Souderton before receiving his M.S. in Technology from Wilkes University.

In the fall of 2012, he was appointed the Assistant Principal at Central Bucks High School.

“Mr. Bauer was a truly impressive candidate,” explains NPSD Superintendent Curtis Dietrich. “He exhibited exceptional communication skills. He’s very perceptive and demonstrated a great deal of intelligence—both cognitive and emotional. He really showed his understanding of a large school system through his background and experience at Central Bucks, which is also a high performing school district.”

Retiring principal Burt Hynes will stay on until the end of the summer to assist with the transition.
