Shayne Dwyer is a journalist at Roanoke's WDBJ-TV.

A North Penn graduate is among the many journalists at WDBJ-TV that suffered the loss of Adam Ward and Alison Parker to a gunman on August 26, according to a Times Herald report.

Shayne Dwyer, 23, is a native of Montgomery Township and graduated from North Penn High School in 2010, the report states.

He has worked as a reporter at the station since September and was among many staff members that went back to work to continue to report the news in the wake of the shooting, according to the report.

Dwyer reportedly said Parker, 24, was one of the first friends he made while working at the station.

“She was such a great person,” he told the Times Herald. “She loved her job and loved her career. She once told me she was always in the fight to make sure hers was the lead story. She wanted to make sure she did whatever she could to make sure she was the lead story every day.”
