North Penn Grad's Artwork Honored By AP, Selected From 50,000 Portfolios
Class of 2016 graduate and artist Carter Yanagawa has achieved an impressive accomplishment.

LANSDALE, PA – The North Penn School District announced Wednesday that Class of 2016 graduate, Carter Yanagawa, has been selected by The College Board for the 2016-2017 AP Studio Art Exhibit.
The prestigious exhibit is produced each year by the Advanced Placement (AP) Program to honor and celebrate the work of outstanding AP Studio Art students, according to a press release from the school district.
The exhibit also informs students, teachers, parents and the art education community about opportunities available through participation in the AP Studio Art program; as well as the diverse subjects, styles, media, techniques and forms of expression addressed by AP students, North Penn said.

The 30 pieces featured in the exhibit were selected from all of the AP Studio Art portfolios submitted in spring 2016, meaning Carter Yanagawa’s work was selected from more than 50,000 portfolios, according to the press release.
Yanagawa was an AP Student Art student of teacher Kolleen Keefer at North Penn.

“This recognition is so deserving to Carter and Kolleen for the inspiring work that is created in the AP Studio Art classroom at North Penn High School,” said Michael Werner, NPHS Art Department Chair.
Artwork for the exhibit was selected after the portfolio scoring by a group of high school and college art educators with extensive experience in the AP Studio Art program. Each work was selected because it represents the extremely high level of rigor, commitment, and accomplishment AP Studio Art students can achieve, the school district said.
The exhibit is shown at different locations around the United States throughout the year. Please visit http://apcentral.collegeboard.... to view a listing of venues where the exhibit will be shown.
