LANSDALE, PA — A North Penn employee has won statewide recognition for "going above and beyond" to improve the district's breakfast program.
Carolann Begley, the high school's Nutrition Services Area Supervisor, was named a "Breakfast Hero" through the national anti-hunger campaign, No Kid Hungry.
Specifically, Begley's work to implement a breakfast cart, making food more accessible to students for the 2018-19 school year, was recognized.

“While we have had a breakfast program before school for a great number of years, the cart has increased the number of both students and staff that have access to a nutritious breakfast each day,” North Penn High School Principal Pete Nicholson said in a statement.
While breakfast is usually served in the cafeteria, many students enter the building via the front entrance, and do not have time to make it over to the cafeteria. The breakfast cart offers a convenient alternative.
