North Penn SD Teacher Performs Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven'

Eighth grade students in the North Penn school district got into the Halloween spirit with a dramatic rendition of the famous spooky poem.

LANSDALE, PA — A North Penn school district teacher performed one of the most famous Halloween-themed poems in the English language to celebrate the holiday on Tuesday.

Eighth grade English and Language Arts teacher, Kip Migdalias, gave his annual rendering of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" to students at Pennbrook Middle School throughout the day.

For the occasion, the school turned the Pennbrook IMC into an "eerie" decorated space where Migdalias performed the poem.

He performed it four times throughout the day on Tuesday.

Poe, who lived from 1809 to 1849, spent a chunk of his life in Philadelphia (his house is open as a museum today). While famous for dark pieces of poetry and prose like "The Raven" or "The Fall of the House of Usher," Poe was also one of the first writers to ever dabble in genres like mystery and science fiction, and is considered a huge influence on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes."
