North Penn Student Violinist To Play In Iceland, China, Carnegie Hall

The local virtuoso credits years of painstaking practice for his success.

Neil Goh was seven years old and there were so many things that seemed more important than practicing the violin.

His mother would tell him to pick up his violin. He didn’t want to. He really didn’t want to.

But he did it anyway.

And ten years later, the North Penn senior is embarking on a journey around the world to showcase his skills.

Goh’s path to where he is today didn’t come easy. He practiced - a lot - for a long time. By the time was in sixth grade, he had become a young maestro, and even played in Carnegie Hall.

“I know that practicing is annoying, and at first kids are going to hate it,” Goh said.

He’ll be returning to Carnegie Hall as the final stop on his International Debut tour this summer. He’s already played in Iceland in June, and he’ll be heading to China for the second stop on the tour soon.

Today, he’s not regretting all the hours he spent practicing as a youngster.

“If your keep with it, music will take you on an amazing journey where you can connect with people around the world.”
