North Penn Works To Keep Students Healthy And Active Over Summer

just because school's out, doesn't mean North Penn students and families should forget lessons of wellness and nutrition.

LANSDALE, PA – Helping students maintain a healthy lifestyle is a top priority at the North Penn School District.

Throughout the school year, students participate in a variety of physical activities through specially designed curriculum to incorporate both fun and physical challenges for students of all ages and abilities, the district said.

Students are also taught how to make nutritious food choices that will give their bodies the proper fuel needed to learn and grow to the be their best, a press release states.

The NPSD School Nutrition Service said they work diligently to deliver such products to students through breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria each day.

NPSD encourages students and families to continue these healthy trends by remaining active and nourished throughout the summer months.

In a press release, North Penn physical education teachers reminded students to incorporate all aspects of physical fitness this summer through fun activities that can be enjoyed outdoors. To maintain cardiovascular endurance, students can play basketball, flag football, jump rope, play tag, ride their bicycle, go swimming or participate in scavenger hunts.

To maintain flexibility, students can participate in yoga or stretching their muscles daily, the school said..

To improve hand-eye coordinator, children can play miniature golf, baseball or have a catch with a football, according to teachers.

The playground at all North Penn schools are always open.

While many students enjoy playing outdoors during the summer, it may be more difficult to stay healthy.

Families are reminded to make small, simple, nutritious decisions that can have a big impact, like grilling vegetables along with meet, making homemade freeze pops with real fruit juice, and replacing water for soda and other sugary drinks.
