North Wales Gets Grant For Center Street Pedestrian Connection
New sidewalks, a gateway entrance, lighting, signage, and more will be installed.
NORTH WALES, PA — A project in North Wales has received a significant grant to help with the completion of a key pedestrian connection.
The Center Street Pedestrian and Gateway project is one of 15 initiatives around Montgomery County to receive funding from the latest round of Montco 2040 Implementation Grants, which support sustainability countywide.
North Wales borough will receive a $154,725 to assist with the project, which will include new sidewalks, crosswalks, and ADA ramps on Center Street. The new infrastructure will be installed between Walnut Street and the trail connection to Parkside Place Park.

The goal of the project is to include "pedestrian connectivity, safety, and visibility."
In addition, a new gateway entrance, lighting, and signage will be installed at the trailhead.

In the local area, Towamencin's Kriebel Road Fischer Park Trail project was among the 15 to recieve funding.
The township received $190,000 to help construct a multiuse trail of about 4,000 feet along Kriebel Road, supporting the long-term goal of connecting the park to Evansburg State Park and the Power Line trail.
All told the county disbursed $2.25 million, with 15 out 27 applications receiving funding. Projects were evaluated by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners based on several factors, including impact, consistency with local and county future plans, project readiness, and compatibility with sustainability goals which aim to make the county more walkable and bikeable.
The Montco 2040 program has awarded $7.5 million in grants to similar projects since the program was initiated in 2016.
