Today I am grateful for outside dining. I love eating outside. When there are no bugs. When it’s not too hot. When I don’t have to sit in the direct sun. When it’s not humid. I love eating outside when it’s a day like we had yesterday. So we did.

After the two hour dance recital, which was actually run quite well with things flowing quickly, we were starved. It was a perfect day, sunny, with a slight breeze, cool in the shade, pleasantly warm in the sun. Perfect. We decided to not listen to the GPS car bitch on the way back home and instead wended our way through country roads. Taking our time.

When we stumbled into Phoenixville and its nice downtown with outdoor seating, we decided to stop. There was a great table right on the sidewalk and the Italian food was wonderful, but our souls weren’t in Phoenixville, PA. We were in Italy at an outdoor café near the Fountain of Trevi. We were in Greece, overlooking the Aegean Sea. We were in Australia, watching penguins waddle out of the ocean. We were in Bali, watching surfers. We were in Bermuda, with our feet in the pink sand, getting nourished before snorkeling. We were in Salzburg, listening to a string quartet play Mozart on the street. We were in Germany eating schnitzel and sausages. We were in Belgium sharing a waffle. We were in Cannes after watching hours of great films. We were on the dock of “our” lake, eating a couple of burgers cooked on “our” grill, deciding if we’d go out in “our” boat. Someday. Ahhhhhh. Someday.
We weren’t just sitting in Phoenixville, PA, having a great lunch, we were traveling the world, lost in the fantasy of possibilities. . .and I’m grateful. What a great game to play.
