Part Of Montgomery Township To Be Sprayed For West Nile Virus

Montgomery Township will be sprayed to help control the spread of West Nile Virus, which was recently contracted by a local resident.

MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP, PA -- Parts of Montgomery Township will be sprayed to help control the spread of West Nile Virus, which was recently contracted by two Montgomery County residents, including one in Montgomery Township.

The spraying will take place on Wednesday, Sept 5 from 8:15 p.m. to midnight.

The area within the yellow highlights on the image above will be sprayed.

The boundaries include County Line Road, Limekiln Pike, Horsham Road, Cedar Hill Road, Hartman Road, and Kenas Road, officials said.

The Montgomery County Health Department said that the virus - and mosquito populations - have a stronger presence in the area this year than it has in previous years.

A rain date has been set for Sept. 12.

Workers will use Duet duel-action adulticide, launched from a truck-mounted spray.

Officials say that residents "should consider" staying inside while the spraying is occurring, and turning off any ventilation systems that draw in outside air.
