Today I am grateful for peaceful pictures. Many people are posting pictures of the views on their fantastic vacations these days. Some are better than others, but all of them represent a relaxation not found in day-to-day living. Especially if you have young children. Or work for a living. Or have an apartment, animals, a house, a garden, or land to maintain.
We have not gone anyplace big this summer, but we did take an amazing drive along the Delaware River a week ago. I did my usual hold-the-camera-out-the-window-and-shoot technique, which I would never do if I had to pay for film and developing. I’m driving and focusing on that, not the camera, so most of what I captured was a blurry mess. But not all. I’m always happy if I get two or three gems.

When I went searching through the pics I found that if I cropped the speeding guardrail out of this picture, it was actually a peaceful depiction of summer on the Delaware, with the towpath in full view. Across the river is New Jersey. Remember. . .some vacations happen at exotic places. . .some vacations are close to home. . .but all of them can happen in your mind. . .by looking at a peaceful picture.
