Day of Service Benefits Local Therapeutic Equestrian Center
PERKASIE - Pennbrook Middle School, located in North Wales, brought their enthusiasm and dedication to community service to Ivy Hill Therapeutic Equestrian Center on April 21. Ten students in 9th Grade groomed horses, cleaned stalls, planted in the Ivy Hill Memorial Garden and planted ivy around the facility.
"The students were here from 9:30 in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoon," said Board of Directors member Grace Emmell Leister.
"They did great work, and we so appreciate it!"

Every Spring, Pennbrook requires students to volunteer and participate in their community on a Day of Service. April is set aside as National Volunteer Month, which focuses the spotlight on participation in community service. This year, accompanied by their teacher-chaperone Ms. Rudolf, the students wanted to come to Ivy Hill.
"This is the second year that Pennbrook Middle School has participated in The Day of Service at Ivy Hill,"continued Leister. "When asked what they liked most about the experience, they told me they loved their time with the horses, and that the horses seemed to appreciate why they were there. "

She said that other students said they felt welcome, and that they made a difference in a place that helped the disabled in the community.
Chris Brockett, President and CEO of Ivy Hill, expressed how important volunteers and volunteer days are for a non-profit organization such as Ivy Hill.
"We cannot say enough what a difference volunteer participation makes, and how vital the work of our volunteers is," said Brockett.
"We can't do what we do, and serve the people we serve without the dedication and good work of our volunteers - so we welcome anyone who is willing to share their time, talent and treasure with us," Brockett continued.
Ivy Hill Therapeutic Equestrian Center is a 501(C) (3) non-profit organization that has been providing equine activities and therapies for the disabled and special needs populations of Hilltown Township and surrounding communities 18 years.
