Today I am grateful for the color pink. I love pink. I look good in pink. But not so much the harsh bright pink, but rather a soft pastel pink. There are few shirts in that color unless you’re six. Everything for little girls is pink.

It’s the same color that takes my breath away (and those with allergies, too) as I drive down the street, past lacy-flowering dogwood trees, which are everywhere. I love how color gives promise to even the trashiest location. In my area and probably yours, there are properties that have more debris on them than a junkyard. Wheels, busted lawn mowers, refrigerators, twisted lawn chairs, you name it, these yards are full of it. By the end of winter I can barely look at these morose places. Then comes Spring. It splashes yellow and green and my favorite pink in the most unexpected places.

Spring forgives winter for its damage by splattering the world with color. And today I am grateful my favorite color is pink.
