Today I am grateful for playing pretend. Let’s pretend it’s July and we’re all griping about the heat, okay?
Look, I like winter. I know I’m weird, but that’s already been established. I love cold days and stop-the-world snow storms and tucking in with a book and hot tea and all that junk. But even I’ve had it with this on-the-cusp-can’t-decide-if-it-should-rain-sleet-snow-or-all-of-the-above-just-to-piss-me-off crap. Enuff already! I think I’m gonna need to take my hairdryer outside to even think about getting in my car. Now hear this. Ice is for cocktails. . .ONLY!

So today it’s July and we are fishing along the Delaware River and having a picnic in the shade of an old mill. Ah, it’s beautiful. See how the sky is reflecting in the water? Gorgeous. No bugs. No humidity. Can you hear the crickets? I smell a campfire. Someone across the river has steaks on the grill. I am grateful to play pretend. . .just for today. Hop on board, Boston!
