Public Premier of Exciting New Climate Movie

BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will showBill McKibben's latest movie, Do The Math, from 350.org on Friday, June 26 at 7 PM.

The new movie, “Do the Math” from 350.org will have its Bucks County PA public premier on Friday, June 26th at 7 PM at BuxMont Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. An expert-led discussion will follow. The math is simple. To avoid climate catastrophe, we have to limit carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere to 350 parts per million or below. There’s only one problem. We’re presently over 400 parts per million and climbing.

350.org’s Bill McKibben, an organizer of the 400,000 strong climate march on the UN, is the film’s star. He focuses on some simple, essential facts about the accelerating burning of fossil fuels that everyone should be aware of.

The Fellowship is located at 2040 Street Road in Warrington, PA., about 100 yards east of Easton Road (Rt. 611 and the SEPTA route 55). Admission is free, we’re handicap accessible and hearing assistance is available. Light refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by BuxMont’s Green Sanctuary Committee.

Jim Hansen, is a Bucks County local and America’s most important climatologist. Before retiring last year, he had NASA do a study to figure out how much carbon in the atmosphere was too much. The paper they published is being regarded as the most important scientific paper of the 21st Century. It said we now know enough to know how much is too much. Said Hansen, “Any value for carbon in the atmosphere greater than 350 parts per million is not compatible with the planet on which civilization developed and to which life on earth is adapted.” Hansen is a “supporting star” of the film.

“Do the Math is a wake-up call on climate change and fossil fuel use. It presents a clear and convincing case that we need to wake up and take action. Don’t miss this film.”
