Rain or Shine, BAPS Charities Walk Green Goes On!

Community members of all ages came out with their families to support the annual BAPS Charities Walk Green 2018 in Hatfield, PA on Sunday June 10, 2018. 2018 marks the third year that the annual BAPS Charities walkathon will benefit The Nature Conservancy and their effort to conserve the lands and waters on earth to sustain life for upcoming generations. BAPS Charities will contribute $165,000, an equivalent of planting 130,000 trees, to The Nature Conservancy to support their initiative to plant a billion trees globally by 2025. In addition to supporting this global effort, this year’s BAPS Charities walkathon supported Colmar Volunteer Fire Company.

Over 350 participants attended this walk. Prior to the walk, a flag was flown over the United States capitol to honor these BAPS Charities walks. This flag was presented at the event where Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick exclaimed, “the biggest thing that impresses me about this community is the way you treat your children…how you get them so involved.”

One such youth, 18-year-old, Rudra Pandit, said “I have been coming to these walks ever since I was a child and it gets better every year. As I’ve grown older, I’ve also come to realize the importance this plays in helping local and national causes. With this year, our small donations and efforts have the potential to help improve the planet – many people making a small difference can make a huge impact!”

BAPS Charities uses these opportunities to instill a spirit of service and commitment to preservation and environmental responsibility in community members. Events such as this help instill consciousness in community members surrounding their actions, and, in turn, helps inspire global harmony with nature.
