Revolutionary Camp & Living History at Skippack Village

Commemorating the 239th camp of Washington’s Army at historic Skippack village. Each day has different activities.


Colonial crafters, farmhouse tours, and more.

Get a sense of the life of a soldier at the actual 1777 encampment. Talk to the soldiers; learn about their duties, equipment and chores of the “camp followers.” On both days the troops will be marching, firing of muskets. Join in the drilling ! Demonstrations: 11:15, 1:15, 3:15 p.m.

- Visit the old summer kitchen that comes alive with colonial hearth cooking in the walk-in fireplace and bake oven. Butter churning, and apple butter making demo. Try turning the large paddle. (all on both days)

* Both Days, there will be a Colonial kiln and pottery firing; and a Tin-Punch demo for kids to make a craft! Demonstration of old time corn sheller, help turn the crank !

*Bring the kids & dress up! Join an old-fashioned class with school marm (both days,2:15p).

* AUTHOR, Mark Blystone will talk of “George Washington's earlier service in the French & Indian War” (Sat. 12 noon)
* Quilt making demonstration

SUNDAY
* Talk to GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON & ALEXANDER HAMILTON, at the General's canopy headquarters.

* Alexander Hamilton, speaking of "Events in the Life of Alexander Hamilton” (aide-du-camp for Washington at Skippack, 1777). (Sun.12:15pm, in the barn)

* PHILADELPHIA’S BETSY ROSS -Kids can help! (1-3p)
* Basket making; Dulcimer Music (1:30-3:30)


- There will be delicious Bauman’s apple cider and fruit butters for sale.


Bring the kids, dress in the colonial period and join the fun!

Donation for parking. Food will be available.

Times: Saturday, 10 am-5 pm, Sunday, 11 am-4 pm.

Presented by Skippack Historical Society at Indenhofen Farmstead, Rt.73 & Old Evansburg Road, across from the Skippack post office.
