The Run in Souderton, Hosted by Moyer Returns Tuesday, July 11, 2023

Fundraising Favorite Back for the 28th Time with New Name, New Night, New Beneficiary

The Run in Souderton 5K, Fitness Walk and Kids’ Fun Run, Hosted by Moyer returns for the 28th year on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. at Souderton Community Park, 459 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA. The Kids’ Fun Run starts at 6:30 p.m., with the 5K Race and Fitness Walk starting at 7:00 p.m.

The Run in Souderton is a new name for this fundraising favorite, with the change paying tribute to Moyer’s Souderton roots. Souderton is the home base for the 154-year-old home services company, whose service area covers southeastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey and Delaware.

It’s a new night for the event, which was traditionally held on a Wednesday, but that’s not all that’s fresh. In addition to Souderton Area High School Cross Country Scholarships, proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Keystone Opportunity Center. Based in Souderton, Keystone serves the entire region to educate, encourage and empower community members in need to become self-sufficient.

“It has been amazing to watch this event grow,” said Jen Burynski, race director and Marketing and Advertising Director for Moyer. “You don’t see this level of festive atmosphere anywhere else. Souderton shows up – from misting stations provided by the Souderton Perseverance Volunteer Fire Company to neighbors along the route cheering people on. And then at the finish line we have everything from pizza to popsicles. It really is a 5K meets block party.”

Participants will receive a custom-designed commemorative t-shirt and there will be plenty of 5-year age group awards after crossing the finish line.

“We are thrilled to add Keystone Opportunity Center as a beneficiary while continuing to support student scholarships. We are proud to have created a means to show how our community comes together to help each other. It’s an investment in our hometown and it’s also a great time,” said David Moyer, President of Moyer.

Pre-registration is open at emoyer.com/5k. Participants can also register the day of the event from 5:15 p.m. – 6:15 p.m. at Souderton Community Park.

Current Moyer customers who pre-register online are eligible to receive a $5.00 discount off of all registration fees by selecting the customer discount options.

This year’s scholarship recipients, Nathan Fickert and Nora Richardson, are members of the recently graduated Souderton Area High School Class of 2023. In the fall, Nora will attend the University of Pittsburgh to study Computer Science and Nathan will attend Ohio State University to study Aerospace Engineering.
