SEPTA Announces Schedule Changes For Wednesday, March 21

SEPTA has issued an altered Regional Rail schedule ahead of Wednesday's storm, in addition to several other changes.

As southeastern Pennsylvania readies itself for the fourth significant nor'easter of the past month, SEPTA has announced a snow contingency plan in an effort to handle the expected madness.

Regional Rail lines will operate on a modified schedule — the typical Saturday schedule — on Wednesday, March 21. The Cynwyd Line will be shut down Wednesday. In addition, the Wilmington/Newark line will run an expanded service to the Newark and Churchmans Crossing stations. The Norristown High Speed Line, meanwhile, will run every 20 mintues.

Heavy snow, up to a foot to 18 inches in some parts of the Philadelphia area, is expected in the area from Tuesday night through Wednesday night. Power outages are also possible due to wind and heavy snow bringing down trees and power lines, and could cause significant delays on both Regional Rail and bus routes.

SEPTA also has something called the "Early Exit" schedule planned, in case the City of Philadelphia calls for an early closure of their Central Business District. This determination will be made before 10 a.m. Wednesday and includes modified departure times designed to alleviate congestion that can be seen here.

As for bus routes, officials have identified several routes which have been "historically affected" by severe weather. Those routes have been put on detoured schedules Wednesday, and include Routes 7, 9, 14, 15B, 18, 19, 20, 22, 24, 26, 27, 28, 31, 32, 35, 38, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 53, 55, 57, 58, 61, 62, 65,70, 73, 77, 84, 88, 92, 93, 94, 95, 97, 99, 103, 107, 108, 112, 114, 117, 119, 120, 124, 125, 126, G, H, XH, J, K, and L, according to SEPTA.
