Souderton-Telford Rotary Club Raises $5,000 for Shop with a Cop

Cocktails and Candy Canes Fundraiser Yields $5,000 for the Franconia Township Police Benevolent Association Annual Shop with a Cop Program

The Souderton-Telford Rotary Club helped the Franconia Township Police Benevolent Association (FTPBA) make the holiday season brighter for 16 local families by raising $5,000 at their recent Cocktails and Candy Canes fundraiser.

This donation helped to fund the FTPBA’s annual Shop with a Cop event. This is an annual event where officers – accompanied by “elves” from the Souderton-Telford Rotary Club, students from the Souderton-Telford Rotary Interact Club, Franconia Insurance and Financial Services, JBS USA, and Souderton Area School District employees -- helped the families shop not only with treats for under the tree, but also necessities like paper towels, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and diapers. The Franconia Township police officers were joined by officers from Telford Borough and Hatfield Borough, while Souderton Borough’s officers provided back-up coverage during the event.

The fun continued at Souderton Pizza and Pasta, where everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and additional gifts were distributed, including a box of K’nex toys for each family. One of Santa’s Rotarian elves overheard a young shopper say, “This was the best day of my life!”

This is a true team effort. Officers and employees of the Franconia Township Police Department and their neighboring counterparts give countless hours of their time raising funds and organizing the event so families in need can have a Merry Christmas. Donations for this year’s Shop with a Cop were also received from the Telford Area Community Aid Foundation and Indian Valley Bulk Carriers.
