State Police of Pennsylvania

Daily Gratitude

Saturday, September 26, 2015

Today I am grateful for the State Police of Pennsylvania who are decked out for the visit of Pope Francis. I sincerely don’t think you need to be catholic to enjoy this fantastic event taking place right in my back yard. I am not and I am enjoying it immensely.

My son and his wife have shared video of the people waiting for hours to catch a glimps. . .and why not? The logistics of this were so overblown very early on that I feared many who could have this chance of a lifetime would opt out. Many did. Accommodations were not made for the elderly or otherwise infirm and that is very sad. Fears of needing to walk over five miles one way has daunted many. I guess those who do attend will also do so for all of us.

Yet the pulse is still in the air, even way up here in Lansdale. . .something very special is occurring in Philly these next two days. Very special. I’m going to need to be hooked up to an IV if I don’t stop bawling!

I hope that feeling of sincerity, peace and joy lasts for a very long time after the pope has left. We owe all of the planners a huge thank you and especially the police who are working beyond overtime to keep everyone not only safe, but also happy. So thank you. . .one and all! The gratitude in my heart is overflowing.
