3 Bridges To Be Replaced On Sumneytown Pike

Three bridges carrying Sumneytown Pike over area creeks are being replaced.

Additional traffic is possible in the Sumneytown Pike area over the next two weeks ahead of a schedule May shut down, PennDOT said.

Three bridges over Unami Creek, Ridge Valley Creek, and the East Branch of Perkiomen Creek are being replaced, and tree clearing and signal installation work is underway in preparation of the work.

Work will begin at 9 a.m. on Monday, March 25 and continue through Thursday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Restrictions will be in place in the following areas:

  • Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) between Long Mill Road and Shady Lane in Upper Salford
  • Intersection of Perkiomenville Road and Old Skippack Road in Upper Salford
  • Intersection of Route 29 (Gravel Pike), Crusher Road and Upper Ridge Road in Marlborough

Restrictions for tree clearing are also planned through April 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sumneytown between Thompson Road and Gerryville Pike in Upper Salford, and on Harleysville Pike between Sharon Lane and Old Morris Road in Lower Salford.

Sumneytown Pike will be completely shut down from May through November as new bridges over Unami and Ridge Valley creeks are put in simultaneously. The bridge over the East Branch will remain open during construction as it is put in place in stages.

All work is scheduled to be completed in the spring of 2020.
