Towamencin DAR Welcomes Newest Member Meg Updike

The Towamencin Chapter of the DAR welcomes its newest member, Meg Updike at their last meeting. At that meeting, the Children of the American Revolution (CAR) spoke to the group about their National Theme "Freedom's Thunder" and their National Project "Siege of Yorktown: Actions that Lead to Victory".

The National Project is to raise funds for a new enhanced outdoor interpretive program – Artillery and Firing Station that will feature education on the siege of Yorktown and firing demonstrations of cannon at the new American Revolution Museum at Yorktown (ARMY). The Victory at the battle of Yorktown was the start of our new nation and set the stage for the laurels of freedom that we hold dear.

The CAR sold raffle tickets and baked goods raising $328 for the 4 Paws for Ability, a charity that trains service dogs for Veterans based on each individual’s specific needs. Additionally, DAR members raised $57 for the purchase of Braille flags that will be donated to various retirement communities, VFWs, churches, etc.
