'Urine' Trouble if You Help a Friend Pass a Test
It's not wise to help a friend pass a urine test, and a lonely dog lover questions getting a puppy

Dear Lizzie …
My boyfriend has a college friend who continually asks him to help him out when it comes to this college buddy passing his work drug test.

My boyfriend has to pee for him. (I don’t know the specifics on how this is done).
I know this cannot be legal. I want to tell my boyfriend, as nice of a guy that he is, that I do NOT think he should be doing this for his “friend.”

Your thoughts? Are there any potential legal issues my boyfriend could face?
- PEE O’D, Lansdale
Dear P.O’D …
My first bit of advice is to tell this “friend” to stop doing drugs or smoking marijuana and pee in his own cup.
Your boyfriend’s friend is not a friend; no friend tries to bring you down with his or her problems. Either your boyfriend is really nice or he is a pushover. If it’s the latter, tell him to get some cojones.
There are legal ramifications to using someone else’s urine, depending on the situation.
If it is a court-ordered drug test, such as for probation reasons, then it is illegal and can be considered falsifying evidence in some jurisdictions. It could also lead to a revocation of parole for the offender.
If it is for a job, the offender will most likely be fired.
Helping a friend is helping them move or work on a home project, it is not getting in trouble by getting arrested or fired.
You need to tell your boyfriend to stop helping this friend and worry about his own problems. If the friend gets in trouble, then your boyfriend could get in trouble.
If any person wants you to help them get out of trouble, that’s not a friend – that’s someone who only cares about themselves.
They could care less if you go down with them, because they couldn’t care less to ask you.
Dear Lizzie …
I work full-time and I live on my own, but it’s lonely sometimes. I have friends that visit often, but I do not have the resources right now for a roommate.
I am thinking about getting a dog. It is something I’ve thought about for a while, and I’ve always wanted my own pet.
The thing is I don’t know if it’s a good idea considering my work situation. What’s your advice?
- PUPPY LOVE, Doylestown
Dear Puppy Love …
I love dogs, cats, fish, and all types of animals. I’ve given advice to people for these situations before, and I’ll be glad to help you out.
If you work full time and you live alone, I suggest not getting a dog.
Here’s why: dogs need LOTS of attention and love, especially as a puppy.
Believe me, I know that they are beyond cute, and since you live on your own, you want to get one to protect you, but in the end, that poor puppy will be stuck in a crate for seven hours a day.
When you have a puppy, it’s so much work: you have to potty train it, you have to walk and run it daily, there has to be playtime. Having a dog is very hands-on and time consuming.
It’s unfair to the dog to be left alone for so long.
I’m certain you could give it a loving home and feed it and take care of it, but a dog, especially a puppy, needs a lot of attention.
Think of it this way: a dog is like a child. You will think about it all the time and worry about it.
They really do become your child.
If you happen to also be a cat person, then getting a cat would not be a problem. They are so adorable when they are little. When you get them as a kitten, you can make them into the cat you want them to be when they get older.
Play with the cat so it is more outgoing and not just sitting in a window.
A cat is one pet you can leave for hours in the day or even a weekend, with the proper amount of food and water left out.
Good luck with any pet you choose. I'm sure you'll make the right decision.
