Volpe Enterprises Moves into New Home

A local home remodeler has just remodeled their new home.

Volpe Enterprises Inc. held a soft grand opening on May 9 to celebrate its new showroom and second headquarters at 217 Church Road in Upper Gwynedd. 

An official grand opening is set for May 19.

"This is our main location, for now," said owner Gary Volpe.

Volpe's first location is on Germantown Pike in Worcester.

"We do all home remodeling," said Gary. "We build additions, we do kitchens, baths, decking, roofing, windows, doors. Whatever you need as far as home improvement."

The new showroom gives you a layout of three main kitchens: mission style, country and modern.

Gary said the family business expanded because they wanted a location with visibility.

"We ran out of space to have offices, sales and our equipment," he said. "We have outgrown the other space."

The new location was a former flat-roofed building that housed Safeguard Business Systems, he said.

Volpe Enterprises' experts raised the roof 18 feet and shingled it, and changed the facade to stucco and stone. 

Gary said about 37,000 square feet of the 40,000-square-foot building is used by his business. Wholistic Fitness rents out the remaining 3,000 square feet.

Many items were donated to Volpe Enterprises' second home by its building material partners. El Dorado stone, Okna Windows, Pella Windows and Salter's Fireplace have their mark in Volpe's new home.

"A lot donated their time, energy and materials to get this going," he said.

Volpe employs about 30 tradesmen, who head out the door Monday to Friday by 7 a.m. Those tradesmen are in one of the many fleets of trucks that make up the huge garage in the back of the new business.

Gary Volpe's wife, Janet, said in 2008, the company employed many knowledgeable remodeling experts who couldn't find work or support their businesses when the housing market went south.

She said the company began 42 years ago as a roofing company. Today, their sons Mike, Steve and David play leadership roles in the family business.

Volpe Enterprises prides itself as a one-stop shop for those remodeling their homes.

"We are more personable. We give our time to homeowners," Janet said. "We like getting to know what the person needs. I love seeing what they gravitate to."

Janet said it saves the homeowner from running here and there for appliances and materials.

"It's nice to walk in and see everything in one place," Janet said. "You can see the granite, you can see the cabinets. We coordinate everything here."

"They are fantastic to work with," Janet said.

Janet said the company is also there to work with the homeowner to get something like a kitchen they love in their price range. The three kitchens in the new showroom are designed by Janet and Brenda Lemon, of Designs by Brenda of Collegeville, to appeal to many age brackets, be it the warm, rustic look of the green, energy-efficient mission kitchen or the bright, lush look of the country kitchen.

"We are installers, but we also help the homeowner get what they are looking for," she said. "People work hard for their money and they want a good, quality job." 

Everyone is so different, Janet said, and that's why Volpe wants homeowners to have that personal touch in their homes.

"We are in the community and we are available," she said. "We are customer satisfaction to the umpteenth degree of satisfaction."
