Will homeowners insurance cover my toilet leak? Do I need a Public Adjuster?

Toilet overflows can cost thousands of dollars to restore. Here are some answers from ACI Adjustment Group Public Adjusters:

One of our clients in Norristown, Pennsylvania called us with a major problem. She had two toilet overflows at around the same time, but when she called All State insurance company, they denied her over the phone. “Maintenance issues are not covered,” her agent told her.

A common call that we get from homeowners is “My toilet overflowed and my insurance company denied it… HELP!” We get several of these call per month and almost every time we are able to get the claim covered by the insurance company. We were able to get this particular client in Norristown covered for both toilet leaks for over $10,000 in settlements. Why? Well, that’s our job!

If your toilet has been leaking continuously for over a year, chances are even hiring a Public Adjuster won’t get you covered for your damages. The agent was right when he said that maintenance wasn’t covered, and the insurance company can very easily deny any leak from a toilet by calling it a “maintenance issue.”

However, if our Public Adjuster can pinpoint the cause of the leak, we will most likely get coverage, and a lot of it. When a toilet overflows, we argue for maximum replacement cost as determined by our adjuster. The clean-up costs, costs of restoring the affected rooms, and the cost of replacing contents can take these claims over the $10,000 mark – especially if there is any dirty water involved.

So, if your toilet has a sudden leak, call ACI Adjustment Group at 1-800-809-4302. We’ll get you covered and fight for the maximum settlement!
