15 Pennsbury Students Hospitalized For Heat Exhaustion

Students from William Penn Middle School were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a field trip.

Several Bucks County middle schoolers were hospitalized Thursday afternoon due to heat exhaustion, Pennsbury school officials confirmed in an email to parents.

According to an email sent to parents, about 15 students were transported to area hospitals after returning from a field trip at a Trenton Thunder game.

"All parents are encouraged to ensure that their children are adequately hydrated on days when temperatures are unusually high. For parents of students who attended this trip today you are encouraged to monitor your children for any symptoms related to heat illness (weakness, nausea, headache, dizziness, or blurred vision). Should you notice any of these symptoms you are encouraged to contact your health care provider," the email said.

According to a report by 6ABC, the students were taken to both Aria Health-Bucks County and St. Mary Medical Center.

The condition of the students was not immediately known.

The temperature Thursday felt like 90 degrees with the heat index, according to the Weather Channel.
