38th Jesse E Hill Memorial Festivities This Weekend

FALLS TOWNSHIP, PA —With Flag Day less than a week away, volunteers were planting flags Friday as part of the 38th Jesse E Hill Flag Memorial presented by Delaware Valley Vietnam Veterans.

The memorial is an inspirational display of more than 65,000 American Flags in the shape and size of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C.

The memorial is held at Falls Township Community Park, 9050 Millcreek Road, Levittown.

Each flag represents an American killed or a POW/MIA during the Vietnam War, Falls Township Parks, and Recreation said.

The display also includes more than 5,000 flags in our Star of Honor Memorial for those brave soldiers lost in the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, as well as the global war on terror.

Besides the flag planting Friday, there will be a free concert and a Day of Reflection Saturday. Bands will begin performing at noon.

On Sunday, a motorcycle rally starts at noon at American Legion 960, 1537 Woodbourne Road, Levittown.

Ceremonies will follow the arrival at the park with the Repatriation Ceremony starting at 1 p.m.

Volunteers are needed to help pull flags after the ceremony, the recreation department said.
