Afton Elementary Celebrates Young Author's Day

A mime artist performs to stories written by students and the laughter could be heard all through the school.

Afton Elementary School celebrated Young Author's Day with an interesting performance.

Principal Joseph Masgai introduced students in kindergarten through fifth grade to Rojo the mime and, from the onset, they were putty in the hands of the artist.

Their eyes said it all as they were transfixed on Rojo during the entire performance.  It was a hands on experience for the students and they were all very eager to join Rojo in his performances.

During his performance, Rojo the mime had a few other tricks up his sleeve.  The children were being taught the structure for writing a good story as they laughed and giggled through each of the stories performed by Rojo. It is called the “3Ps and an S” (Person, Place, Problem and a Solution).

Students were challenged to write a short story when they returned to their classroom and Rojo would then pick a few stories to act out when they returned to his next performance.

The show was a huge success, apparent by the big smiles on everyone’s face.

Young Authors Day is one of Mobile Ed’s most popular programs and is designed to support and enhance the creative writing curriculum. The fascinating educational experience is designed to stimulate the imagination of all involved.
