Air Quality Alert Issued In Bucks County Tuesday

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — An air quality alert has been issued for much of the Philadelphia region, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said.

Temperatures are forecast to rise into the high 90s in Bucks County and the region on Tuesday.

The conditions will lead to high ozone concentrations, with air quality considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, officials said.

The "Moderate" code alert indicates "unhealthy" air for sensitive groups such as children, the elderly, and those with asthma, heart disease, or lung disease.

The alert also impacts Philadelphia, Chester, Bucks, Delaware, Lehigh, Berks, Northampton, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lebanon, Lancaster, and York counties.

Tuesday’s forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with highs in the middle 90s.

Tuesday will cause robust ozone formation once again, and 8-hour maximum values will reach code orange in parts of the area.

Ozone concentrations may decrease to moderate Wednesday as a strong cold front moves into the Commonwealth.

Showers and a thunderstorm are likely late in the afternoon and early Wednesday night.

Good air quality returns Thursday through Saturday, but with much cooler air and the increasing chance for rain Friday into Saturday as surface flow shifts to east-southeast.
