Afton Elementary Team Places In Top 10 In World Competition
Afton Elementary's Odyssey of the Mind team placed ninth in the Worlds Championship held at the University of Maryland.
Afton Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind team placed in the top ten during the World Championships in College Park at the University of Maryland.
According to school officials, a total of 858 teams from 14 countries and 33 states competed in five categories and three divisions. Out of those 858 teams, only 60 teams were chosen to compete in the Worlds Championships.
Teams in the World Championships included Canada, Hong Kong Mexico, Singapore and Germany.

Eleven Pennsbury School District teams competed in the regionals and three of those 11 made it to states.
Afton Elementary continued Pennsbury's streak on having at least one team competing in the Finals. This is the 28th year a team from the school has made it this far.

The Afton OM team was invited to the Pennsbury School Board meeting on June 21 to be recognized and congratulated by the board.
Four members from the team were at the meeting and performed a skit showing how they made it to ninth place in the competition.
Following their school board meeting performance, they were congratulated, received a standing ovation for a job well done and for representing Pennsbury at the World Championships.
