'Armed And Dangerous' Croydon Man Wanted For 3 Robberies: Cops

A Croydon man who allegedly robbed 2 banks and a grocery store in Philly is wanted by authorities. He's considered armed and dangerous.

CROYDON, PA — A Croydon man who allegedly robbed two banks and a grocery store in Philadelphia is wanted by authorities.

The FBI/Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force is seeking Gerald "Jay" Griffith, 46. His last known address is on Colonial Drive in Croydon. He's considered armed and dangerous.

He is wanted for three robberies on July 6 and July 9, authorities said.

On July 6, he allegedly robbed the Shop Rite store located at 6301 Oxford Ave., police said.

The morning of July 9, he allegedly attempted to rob the BB&T Bank branch located at 6633 Roosevelt Boulevard, according to authorities. Then about 15 minutes later, he allegedly robbed the Firstrust Bank branch located at 9309 Krewstown Road.

Griffith is also under investigation for two additional bank robberies in Philadelphia. He stands 6 feet 3 inches tall with brown hair and brown eyes, and may have a beard.

He is known to frequent Kensington Avenue, and the 4300 block of Shelmire Avenue in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the FBI/PPD Violent Crimes Task Force at (215) 418-4000. There is a reward for information leading to Griffith's capture; tipsters can remain anonymous.
