Attempted Child Luring Reported In Middletown Township
Breaking: An older man approached a boy getting off his bus Monday and asked if he needed a ride home, Middletown Township Police said.

An attempted child luring was reported Monday in Middletown Township, according to police there.
An older white man with grey hair in a black Toyota Camry pulled over in the area of Teal Road and Mallard Lane and asked a boy who had just gotten off the bus if he needed a ride home, police said.
The boy told the man he lived close by and did not need a ride.

The boy's mother was standing nearby and saw incident take place, police said. Authorities said the man "calmly" drove off and was not located by police after they were notified.
As a result, Middletown Township police are asking parents of children in the area to "please take the opportunity to speak to your children, regardless of age, about strangers."

Police also said parents should encourage children to walk in groups after school. "Tell your older children to be good buddies to the younger ones to ensure they all walk together. Look out for one another at all times and if you see anything suspicious, don't hesitate to alert the police."
