Attempted Murder Charge Filed After Federal Courthouse Incident

LEVITTOWN, PA —A Bristol man has been hit with a federal of attempted murder charge after a Tuesday incident outside a federal courthouse in Philadelphia.

Anthony Lombardo, 44 of Bristol, has been charged with attempting to murder and forcibly assault, intimidate, and interfere with, a federal law enforcement officer, U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero said.

According to authorities, Lombardo was shot several times Tuesday outside the Federal Detention Center on the 700 block of Arch Street.

Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark said a minivan was parked in a restricted parking area of the courthouse and a security officer approached the vehicle.

A man roughly in his 40s came out of the vehicle and had two "edged weapons," Clark said.

The officer told the man to drop the weapons, but the man did not comply.

Clark said the man kept coming toward the security officer, who fired several rounds at the man, striking him.

Fox 29 reports the man was armed with a knife and a shield and said he had a bomb.

No bomb was found.

Lombardo is hospitalized and in federal custody.
