Bites Nearby: La Casa Mia Family Restaurant

In previous Bites Nearby Articles we've gone over some of the great pizza parlors in the Levittown area. This week, we are looking at a much more traditional approach to pizza: La Casa Mia.

La Casa Mia is a true, old-fashioned family run restaurant. Owned and operated by the same Italian-American family for years, La Casa Mia takes the classic American pizza parlor and combines it with a traditional Italian restaurant mentality.

One half of the restaurant serves traditional home-style Italian cuisine. It has a nice atmosphere and quality food for the price. Its real selling point is the business's other half, its pizza parlor.

Attached to the restaurant, separated by only a small hallway and a different entrance, lies the tiny take-out section of the family restaurant. Here you can buy, in addition to a plethora of beer and wine coolers, La Casa Mia's old-style slices of pizza pie. What makes La Casa Mia really stand out from its local peers, and especially the mega-chain pizza parlors, is the classic brick-oven pizza it deliver. They use a real brick oven and you can tell.

La Casa Mia's no-frills approach to pizza is both its strength and its weakness. On one hand, you get a higher quality pizza than you can find outside of New York and Chicago, but by the same token they lack variety in style of pizzas and that can make it hard to come back regularly, especially if you have been spoiled by the myriad of different pie sizes, shapes, cuts and crusts that have popped up from different chains in recent years.

In the end, if you are looking for a tried-and-true traditional brick-oven pizza, you likely can't go wrong with giving La Casa Mia a try. La Casa Mia is located at 2605 Durham Road in Bristol.
